Strawberry Orange Margaritas
You say palette. I say palate. I love being creative in design, photography and in the kitchen. My friends know that I like a good margarita now and then. I’m a fairly classic margarita girl at heart. But I wanted to come up with a recipe with strawberries with a twist. An orange chile twist. I was first introduced to Urfa Biber chiles at Rhine Hall in Chicago. A group of friends went to have a drink after a photoshoot in Chicago. Their master bartenders create unique and delicious drinks with their spirits. Urfa Biber is a Turkish chile pepper that’s distinctive for its dark burgundy color, and intriguing raisin, tobacco flavor. I buy mine from the Spice House in Chicago.
In a medium saucepan, add the strawberries, sugar, water and urfa biber chiles. Bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and cover. Let cool to room temperature then chill overnight in the refrigerator.
Strain through a fine mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth.
Make the margaritas – Mix the strawberry syrup, Hornitos Reposado Tequila, Cointreau and orange juice per the ingredients list measures. Serve over ice and garnish with an orange twist.
